Augusta · South West · Western Australia

Slow mornings,
open paddocks.

A self‑contained design studio on a working farm — floor‑to‑ceiling glass framing the gum trees, the cattle and some of the finest sunrises in the South West. Wake to mist on the paddock, and nothing but open country as far as you can see.

The Stay

Designed dark, on purpose.

Deep, near‑black walls, timber beams and polished concrete underfoot — a moody, considered space that feels a world away yet keeps everything you need close. The whole studio opens to a single enormous window, so the last light of the day pours across the bed.

It's the kind of place you come to slow right down: paint at the easel, cook a long dinner at the timber table, and watch the mist settle over the paddocks at dawn.

Augusta, Western Australia
The Setting

On a working farm in Augusta.

Tucked into the green pastures of Western Australia's South West, the studio sits on a small working cattle farm where we also breed border collies. This is Augusta — where the Blackwood River meets the sea, and the Indian and Southern Oceans collide at Cape Leeuwin.

Wake to fog rolling across the paddock, spend the day among the karri forests, wineries and wild coastline, and come home to absolute quiet under a sky full of stars.

Around Augusta

Worth leaving the paddock for.

Augusta sits at the very bottom corner of the South West, where the Blackwood River meets the sea. Whales, caves, karri forest and the wild end of the Margaret River region — all within a short drive.

On the water

Whale watching

Humpbacks move into the calm of Flinders Bay on their annual migration. Boats run out of the Augusta Boat Harbour, minutes from town.

Heritage

Cape Leeuwin Lighthouse

The south‑western tip of the continent, where the Indian and Southern Oceans meet. Tours run daily, and the café at the base does a good coffee.

Underground

Jewel Cave

Limestone caves in the Leeuwin‑Naturaliste ridge just north of town — the best known of the caves along this stretch of coast.

On foot

River walks

The boardwalk and jetty at the old Ellis Street landing follow the Blackwood out toward the mouth. Flat, easy and quiet in the mornings.

In season

Wildflowers

Through spring the whole South West comes into bloom, and the roadsides and reserves around Augusta are as good as anywhere for it.

Eat & drink

Cafés in town

The Colour Patch on the water, Ragged Robin for coffee and house‑made pastries, plus Thousand Suns and the DeckChair.

Kitesurfing on the flat water and birdwatching charters out of the harbour are worth asking about too — ask us and we'll point you in the right direction.
